dublinThe students spent 4 days in Dublin, 4 days enliven with a lot of visits and full in events! We visited the Guinness storehouse with its 7 floors in the shape of a giant pint of Guinness that would hold 14.3 Million pints! At the end of the visit, as we reached the top of the building, we were offered a free pint and a spectacular view of Dublin. We also visited Croke Park stadium and its museum which celebrates the history and heritage of Gaelic games. It is the place where 14 people were shot by the British forces, in 1920 during the Irish War of Independence, including a player.

One of the stands bears his name: Michael Hogan. This day is known as "Bloody Sunday". The Jameson Distillery was another great moment and we learned there how to make a whiskey. The tour ended with a tasting. One night we went to Shelbourne Park to see the greyhound racings (courses de lévriers) and we could bet on dogs. We didn't win the jackpot but it was very funny! We spent another night in Temple Bar, known as Dublin's cultural quarter, where we tried to get into a pub, it was a real challenge as they were completely full!

To finish we took the DART to Malahide where we visited a castle (going to Ireland without visiting a castle is a nonsense!) then to the fishing village of Howth, where we saw some seals (phoques) among the boats. The trip finished with a flourish! (finir en beauté)There was a water leak (fuite d'eau) in the Youth Hostel where we stayed and at midnight we were evacuated by the firemen. We spent the night half outside in the cold and half packed (entassés) into 2 rooms on the carpet with about forty other guests!

Many people had left their stuff in their rooms, moreover another group of thirty people arrived from the airport at five in the morning to sleep in the hostel which was closed... It was complete chaos! and to crown it all (pour couronner le tout), after this sleepless night, we... missed our plane! It was a very nice trip indeed!!! and I think that the students will never forget it...
